Sharon Levy

Dr. Levy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in neurobiology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Doctorate in Medicine from the New York University School of Medicine and a Master's in Public Health from Harvard University. She served as an intern, resident and Chief resident in pediatrics at Bellevue Hospital in New York City, and as a Dyson Fellow in General Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Boston. She is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and an Assistant in Medicine and Psychiatry at Children's Hospital, Boston.

Dr. Levy serves as Medical Director for the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), the clinical arm of CeASAR. Her research interest is in studying the use of urine drug testing with adolescents. Based on her previous research, the American Academy of Pediatrics amended their national policy guidelines to include advice to Pediatricians to warn parents of the risks associated with home drug testing products. In 2007 she was awarded funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to study the use of laboratory testing as a therapeutic adjuvant for teenagers with problematic use of alcohol and other drugs. Dr. Levy has authored several original science research papers, reviews and text book chapters on adolescent substance abuse.
